Tree Service in Winchester, CA

Rural Land, Changing Fast

Winchester was rural for most of its history, and tree service there still leans toward big lots and open ground. Founded in 1886 in what was then San Diego County, the community grew quickly during the housing boom of the early-to-mid 2000s. In 2022 Riverside County expanded the Winchester planning area to 42 square miles to meet state housing goals, so newer homes are now going up next to older ranch parcels.

Weed and lot clearing

Winchester is unincorporated, so the county's hazard reduction rules apply. Under Ordinance 695, a vacant parcel can be ordered cleared in a strip that is typically 100 feet wide along the road and next to neighbors' structures, normally within 30 days. Parcels being held for future building are a common source of those notices. We mow open ground, hand-cut rough or rocky spots, remove brush and haul it away.

Old ranch trees

On older parcels you may find aging windbreaks, pepper trees and leftover orchard trees. Some are worth keeping with a careful trim. Others are dead, hollow or leaning toward a building, and those are better removed. We tell you which is which.

Newer homes

Homes from the 2000s boom and newer have young trees that benefit from early structural pruning. Shaping a young tree to a single strong leader and well-spaced limbs prevents bigger problems later. It is quick work now, and it saves a large trim in ten years.

Near the lake

Diamond Valley Lake, which the Metropolitan Water District filled between 1999 and 2003, lies about four miles southwest of Hemet, near Winchester. Open hills around it carry grass and brush. Homes that face that kind of ground should keep defensible space up to date: grass at four inches, limbs at least six feet off the ground and dead plants removed.

Equipment access

On large rural parcels, access can be the hardest part of a job. Soft ground after rain, narrow gates and long dirt drives all affect which machines can reach a tree. Tell us about the route to the work area when you request an estimate, and send a photo of the gate if you can, so we bring the right equipment.

Stumps

When you clear a lot for building or landscaping, old stumps need to come out. We grind them below grade so grading and planting can go ahead.

Winchester Questions

I am holding a vacant lot. How often should I clear it?

At least once a year after the spring growth, and sometimes again if rains run late. Clearing before the grass dries keeps the parcel compliant and safer.

Should I prune my young trees?

Yes. Light structural pruning in the first years sets up a strong framework and prevents heavy cuts later.

Can you clear a lot before construction?

Yes. We remove trees and brush and grind stumps so the grading crew can start on a clean site.
